-- I will investigate and work in different design disciplines to achieve this, Community-centered design, graphic communication design and the visualization of information. How does digital futures apply to my work - communities can demand and create social change through technological networking. They can do this by sharing and exchanging data, information and knowledge and by seeing how it can be turned into ‘wisdom’ across different boundaries (Nathan, 200). The pertinent issues are - any understanding of the term sustainability is formed in the shadow of Capitalism. The ‘Multitude’, or the general populous, should seize the positive aspects of ‘technology Empire’ to remobilize, reassert and affect change to enable a social reformation. Technologically design based -tools should be developed with the community in mind from the outset by appropriating a Community-centered design approach. The relevant practitioners in this field are - http://www.ethicalmedia.com and http://greenmap.systems.com The relevant main academics are: Foucault (post modernism) Marx (modernism) Nathan (contemporary) Hart and Negri (beyond post-modernism) Preece (Human-centered systems design)… The outcome will be - a powerful debate and decision-making tool - a tool that can lead to further exchanges of ideas and visual pictures. The tool will help to refine what the term sustainability means within the communities of South Kerrier’s social and cultural space. One outcome is that the communities should be able to communicate the concept to other communities. Most importantly, they should have a confidence to apply sustainable practice to their lives. |
